This is the 1967 original first printing of the first UK edition of THE HARD YEARS: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY by Joe Brown. It was published in London by Rupert Victor Gollancz LTD in 1967. The book measures 222mm tall x 140mm, and has 256 pages, 43 b/w photos, index. Brown’s autobiographical account, published at age 37, of his many climbs 1949-1963: Alps, Kangchenjunga, Mustagh Tower, UK rock, Pamirs. This is the collection of his early climbs as Brown has accomplished many fine ascents since writing this book.

CONDITION: Original textured blue boards, spine lettered in gilt. Original dust jacket has a 4cm tear upper front near spine with crinkle lines, 1cm tear upper rear, minor chipping top of spine. The book is in nice condition with clean covers, tight binding, no foxing, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. Price: $80.
