CONDITION: Original grey cloth, gilt decorated cover, gilt lettering cover & spine. This book is signed by the author, Thomas Hornbein on the title page. Hornbein and Willi Unsoeld were the two that climbed the new route and made the first traverse. It is also signed on the title page by Jim Whittaker, who climbed to the summit several days earlier than Hornbein via the Khumbu S. Col route supported by the main contingent of this two-pronged expedition. Whittaker was the first American to reach the summit of Mount Everest. BOOK CONDITION is FINE with no fading, no soiling, tight binding, no foxing, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, clean pages, no crease marks, no rubbing. The original DUST JACKET is in nice condition with faint grubbinness at flap folds and spine creases. It has a small 1cm2 chip at the lower front outside corner tip. Price: $300.
NOTE: We have an unsigned copy of the first edition of the above book in similar condition with DJ in similar condition for $150. There is also one available for $100, but that DJ has some chips. Photos can be provided upon request.
