This is the first printing of the first edition of EVEREST DIARY: BASED ON THE PERSONAL DIARY OF LUTE JERSTAD ONE OF THE FIRST FIVE AMERICANS TO CONQUER MOUNT EVEREST by Lute Jerstad & John McCallum. This book was published in Chicago by Follet Publishing Company in 1966. The book measures 216mm tall x 136mm, and has 213 pages, 28 b/w photos, glossary of place names and pronunciations. Jerstad’s account of his ascent of Everest in 1963 with Barry Bishop, the horrible open bivouac below the S Summit with Hornbein, Unsoeld, and Bishop, the highest bivouac on Everest (and on Earth) up til that time.

CONDITION: Original light blue cloth with tan strip front, navy lettering spine. The original dust jacket has some rubbing spots on the spine, a 1cm tear upper rear, price-clipped flap corner. The book is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writings on any pages, tight binding, no foxing, clean. Price: $30.
