Exploration of the Northern Karakoram

This is first printing of the first UK edition of UNKNOWN KARAKORAM. It was published in London by Hopkinson in 1936. The book measures 222mm tall x 14mm, and has 244 pages, 24 b/w photos, glossary of place-names, large folding color map in rear pocket, index, errata slip on page 236. Account of two explorations in 1934 to little known north side of the Karakoram in region of Raskam, Oprang, Braldu, Mustagh River, etc. Author was 61 at the time & travelled lightly with several hired locals. Schomberg was especially good at identifying the correct names & locations of places, many of which had been muddled by others’ accounts.

CONDITION: Original blue cloth with gilt lettering spine. Clean covers, no rubbing (not even at tips corners), usual fading to spine, very minor fore-edge foxing, light foxing restricted to title and pre-title page (other pages are not foxed), no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, complete with all plates and maps, original EPs secure and not cracked, folding map are rear is near fine with no tears.
