This is the first printing of the first USA edition of A WALK IN THE SKY -- CLIMBING HIDDEN PEAK by Nicholas Clinch. This book was published in 1982 by The Mountaineers in Seattle. The book measures 235mm tall x 15mm, and has 214 pages, 25 color & 45 b/w photos, 1 map. Leader’s account of the only American first ascent of an 8000m peak, Gasherbrum I (Hidden Pk 8068m). Pete Schoening & Andy Kaufmann summited July 5, 1958. Well executed expedition without big-time sponsorship. This book was written in 1959 and finally published (unaltered) in 1982. Good read.

CONDITION: Original blue boards with gilt lettering spine. The book is in fine condition. It is inscribed and signed by Clinch opposite the table of contents page. There are no other previous owner marks or writing on any pages. The dust jacket is in nice condition but has a clean 3cm tear lower rear and a 1cm tear lower front. Price: $45.
